Sketches #96 - Generative Eurorack Bleeps [ Mutable Marbles | Tides | Make Noise Maths | STO ] Hello, world! This patch is a little more experimental in nature than usual. My intention here was to create a generative (or semi-generative) patch with as few modules as possible. Of course Make Noise Maths is at the heart of it all. There are really only two voices here, one from Make Noise STO and the other from Mutable Instruments Tides v2 (clone) running at audio rate. Marbles is providing sequencing and that is also being clocked via Maths. The EOC output from channel 4 is being fed back into channel 4 input, whilst the rise and fall on channel 4 is modulated by Zlob Chaos Diode. The unity output from channel 4 is then sent to clock divider which is providing clock for Marbles. The result of this (excessively complex I'm sure) arrangement is the rate of marbles constantly changing. There are a few other things going on with three sisters and FX Aid which also add to the weirdness. Thanks for watching. Hope you enjoy! Hello, world! This track came out of and improvised performance I did recently at a gig. The main basis was a drone produced by the Make Noise Telharmonic and STO, playing a root and 5th. Mutable Instruments Marbles is then generating random CV which is quantised by intellijel Scales before going into Rings and then Beads. I'm also playing with the fall and rise on Maths to create textures with drone. Finally, Mutable Instruments tides 2 (clone) is providing some modulation of the filter cutoff which can vary from nice and slow up to audio rate craziness. Thanks for watching. Hope you enjoy! Ambient Eurorack - Mutable Instruments Rings into Clouds and Telharmonic chords! Hello, world! I've had the make noise Telharmonic for some time now but mainly use it for drones. I knew there was a way to use it for chord progressions but wasn't sure how. I still haven't worked it out fully but I think this was a successful first attempt. I'm using the keystep pro to send CV to the Telharmonic to sequence the chord pattern, and then this pattern is doubled by an arpeggiated version also sequenced by the keystep pro going into the ubiquitous rings and clouds. Let's Hope - Ambient Eurorack Jam [ Mutable Instruments Rings | Clouds | Beads | Make Noise STO ]<br /><br />Hello, world!<br /><br />It has taken me three weeks to make this video. I have attempted to make it about five times I think and every time, until this version, I was unhappy with what I had done. My wife tells me it's 'Mercury retrograde' and that means things (computers, machinery, people) don't work as they should and frustrate us because of some planetary alignment. I'm not sure about that. I just know this video was hard to make for some reason.<br /><br />I think it was because I had a fixed idea in my mind of what I wanted it to be and each time I attempted to carry that out it just didn't work. In the end I just did something completely different and unplanned and it turned out loads better and happened much quicker.<br /><br />That's the curious thing about creativity, it often doesn't happen how we expect it to. And that's ok. <br /><br />The title of this track, 'Let's Hope', references the actual words I said to myself just before the final take. <br /><br />'Let's hope this one works ok.'<br /><br />Hopefully it won't take me three weeks to make another one. Soul Circus Festival 20/08/2022 [ Mutable Instruments Rings | Beads | Mannequins Three Sisters ] Hello, world! So last weekend I was lucky enough to perform at this year's Soul Circus festival with my modular setup. This was a gig that I had been looking forward to for quite some time and my first proper outing with the modular. My wife and I have been doing some yoga events locally where I accompany her class. These events have been quite small (about 10-15 people) and have taken place in our local community centre. We've both really enjoyed this and they have also served as a good testing ground to try out performing live in a fairly "safe" environment. A few months ago though we got an invite to take our synth and yoga session to this year's Soul Circus festival and we both jumped at the opportunity! To say we were both a little nervous would be an understatement. I mean it's not like playing a stadium or anything, but there were about 100 people in the session and 100 strangers too, not people who know us well and have been to our previous events. On top of this I had bought a new case which needed putting together the week before. My old case wasn't really portable or suitable for live use (it was also full - no room for more modules!). That was an added extra anxiety for me. Would the case work? Would I blow something up putting it together? Fortunately it all worked well and the session was great! Once we both started the nerves melted away and we dropped into performance mode. On whole the session went really well and we got loads of great feedback from the participants who really enjoyed it. I planned to try and film and record the whole thing in order to make this video, unfortunately that didn't quite happen. My camera only records 20 minutes at a time then needs restarting, which I forgot to do, and for some reason the audio recorder I was using didn't capture anything at all which just left the camera audio (which was terrible). Lessons learned there! So I decided to try and recreate the performance again when I got home. I don't think it's too bad. This video is just 30 minutes but the full performance was an hour long.
